Louisville Indiana Southern Ohio River Bridges East End Approach


The project located in the East End of Jefferson County, Kentucky consists of the design and development of a major highway interchange and tunnel.

Features include:
  • A 2,000-foot tunnel in East Jefferson County under U.S. 42 and the historic Drumanard Estates
  • A redesigned partial interchange at U.S. 42 that retains current access, allowing traffic to enter and exit KY 841 only in the direction of I-71

EHI is tasked with the responsibilities of providing planning assistance in the areas of public involvement and Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) development.

EHI is assisting the prime engineering firm in a comprehensive public involvement program designed to build consensus and obtain input from various constituencies, by meeting with neighborhood organizations, civic and environmental groups. EHI is assisting in the coordination of project activities that relate to:
  • Flow of information
  • Deliver, gather and disseminate project information
  • Sharing of databases
  • Participation in special events
  • Speakers bureau
  • Performance surveys

EHI is responsible for the development of and management of the projects DBE program. EHI is managing the overall program for the prime engineering firm. EHI is working with the project DBE sub consultants and sub contractors to ensure that the DBE goals and objectives of inclusion, good faith and state and federal compliance is being met. EHI is coordinating the DBE mentoring process of two firms to assist them in entering the engineering profession.
